Superintendent Thomas' Back to School Message

BTS Message 2017

Welcome back! I hope your summer break was relaxing and enjoyable.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire staff at Madison 321 we are looking forward to great school year and are excited to witness the continuing growth, development and accomplishments of our students.

One of the main themes we have this year is “Reading: Learning and loving to read.” The benefits of being able to and enjoying reading can hardly be overstated. Effective reading is the basis of almost all learning.

Therefore, may I encourage parents and staff alike this year to model habits of good reading by reading aloud to children at least 20 minutes per day, sharing with our children why we enjoy reading and discussing with them articles and books we or they have read.

Successful students need support from both the home and school. Having a strong partnership with you as parents and guardians makes a very positive difference in your child’s education.

Therefore, in order to provide the best learning opportunities for your children, please ensure they they attend class diligently, eat a good breakfast before leaving home, are properly attired and have the requisite school supplies and materials necessary.

As parents, I invite you to regularly visit your children’s schools, ask questions of the teachers and volunteer to assist in the classroom. Your input and support is very important to us.

Again, welcome back. I hope the school year will be safe, productive and filled with rewarding experiences.
